Beschrijving
Recorded from February to May in 1969, these tracks were made to follow up on the massive success of the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Any new material from this genius of rock is welcome, but a whole hour seems almost too good. It’s a blast from the past that we never got to hear with his cover of Cream’s ‘Sunshine of Your Love’, as well as Elmore James’ ‘Bleeding Heart’. Want more good news? There’s plenty more unreleased material for us in the future too. Hendrix was the type to record almost everything he played, meaning a plethora of unheard music will be heading our way in the future.
Hendrix left us all at age 27, but guitarists around the world seek his music as a guide to replicate a smidgeon of what he has conjured through his soulful rock music.

Commentaar over SONY BMG Jimi Hendrix - Valleys of Neptune:
goed officele vijfde album van J.H.
echt voor de J. H. liefhebber
het album is de moeite waard, er staan mooie nummers op,
en ook twee nummers, die al eerder op een album stonden, maar
nu in een totaal andere versie.
laatste twee nummers zijn instrumentaal
Commentaar over SONY BMG Jimi Hendrix - Valleys of Neptune:
When I first heard about this new Jimi Hendrix, I must admit I was rather sceptical; another cash-in 40 years after is death was my fear. But after I heard a couple of tracks on the radio, I did some research and this album is a nice surprise, it will never be one of his original classics, but the quality of the music and the production is a lot better than most of the records released after he died. Most of the tracks feature Mitch Mitchell on drums and Billy Cox or Noël Redding on bass and Jimi's favourite engineer Eddie Kramer did, as usual a perfect job. Some of the tracks, as for instance Cream's Sunshine of Your Love, would have deserved a place on the 4 original albums that were authorised by Jimi to be released. It's a pity not all the tracks have the same quality, but they are still a lot better than most of the material released after he passed away. This makes this album enjoyable for anyone interested in Jimi's material and not only for his die-hard fans, who want to posses everything released under his name. A pleasant surprise, but not as essential as Electric Ladyland and the other 3 pre '70s records are.
